“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (1 Thessalonians 5:18)
Who or what are you grateful for? When did you last give thanks? To God? To other people?
This month (23rd) it is Thanksgiving Day in the USA (it was on Monday 9th October in Canada). People will gather to meet with family and/or friends and give thanks for all kinds of things.
Here in Leiden, an actual Thanksgiving Service happens in the Pieterskerk (11.00 Thursday 23rd November) – think Pilgrim Father fame.
It doesn’t matter whether we are American, Canadian or any other nationality, it is good to ask, are we thankful people?
God has given us so much – the very gift of life, He sent Christ to show us how to truly known God. Christ gave His life on the cross for us all that we might be made right with God and with one another.
Grace is the word that the Bible uses for God’s favour.
In the light of His grace, do we extend grace to others? Also knowing how much we have been given, will we be generous to others?
Practically this month, we are collecting for Leiden Food Bank and also clothes for the Teen Challenge charity store at their centre in Heerhugowaard (we have a decorating team going up on Saturday 25th who can take the clothes with them).
